755-nm Wavelength
The PicoSure Pro workstation is indicated for tattoo and benign pigmented lesions removal including but not limited to: Nevus of Ota, Hori macules (nevus of Hori), and Melasma.
The PicoSure Pro workstation using the Platinum focus™ lens array is indicated for the treatment of acne scars and wrinkles in Skin Types I-IV.
Note: The device is not intended to treat Nevus of Ota pigmentation of eye, only pigmentation of
the skin.
Platinum focus™ lens
The Platinum focus™ lens array is a diffractive lens that can be attached to the 755-nm fixed handpieces to treat wrinkles, acne scars, and benign epidermal and dermal pigmented lesions.
Fixed handpieces are available in 5 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm, and 10 mm spot sizes. Refer to the PicoSure Pro Operator Manual for care and handling of the Platinum focus lens array.
Dermal Remodeling
- When the 755nm energy is delivered through the Platinum Focus lens, the high energy zone leads to the creation of LIOBs (Laser Induced Optical Breakdown) in the epidermis. The LIOBs form so quickly that pressure waves propagate outwards.
- These waves squeeze cells and simulate a pressure injury. The cells signal to other cells that there has been an injury and initiate a repair response which results in increased collagen and elastin.
- This is an elegant, epidermal interaction that spares the DEJ of high amounts of energy passing through it which reduces the risk of side effects and downtime.

- Lasers do not remove tattoos, your body does. Naturally. Let PicoSure help. During treatments with PicoSure, PressureWave technology is used to deliver ultra-short pulses of specialized energy to targeted ink particles.
- PressureWave™ technology in action. These pulses are so rapid they cause a change in pressure that breaks ink apart into tiny dust-like particles. These tiny particles are then absorbed by the lymphatic system, a critical part of your body’s immune system, and eliminated naturally.
What should i expect?
Laser tattoo removal has been described as feeling similar to the actual tattooing process. PicoSure relies on pressure changes instead of just heat to break apart ink particles but some patients may feel some discomfort. Your treatment provider should be able to provide aids to make your experience more comfortable.
- Number of treatments needed is dependent on variables such as ink characteristics, size of tattoo, location on body, and lifestyle habits
- Treatments typically occur every 6-8 weeks and your treatment provider will develop a treatment plan to meet your individual needs.
Patients and treatment providers have reported better clearance (disappearance) of tattoos with improved recovery time. You can expect excellent results with PicoSure.

FAQs
PicoSure represents the cutting edge of a type of laser technology known as short-pulse lasers. These lasers are designed to “flash” incredibly quickly, in PicoSure’s case in trillionths of a second. This rapid flashing minimizes the amount of heat and creates a photomechanical effect that’s highly effective in removing tattoo ink and unwanted pigment.
As the leading picosecond laser, PicoSure is able to treat all colors of tattoo ink on patients of all skin-types, so it’s very likely that PicoSure could work for you! Plus, PicoSure has been shown to remove tattoos in fewer treatments so speak to your local provider to about a treatment plan that’s right for you.
PicoSure is the most versatile short-pulse laser in the world, allowing it to treat a wide variety of pigment conditions as well as acne scars and wrinkles. While other aesthetic products and lasers can treat similar conditions, PicoSure is the only way to achieve great results without the pain, redness and downtime.
PicoSure’s ultra-fast pulses and specialized wavelengths work together to minimize the amount of heat that is transferred. Less heat means less damage to surrounding skin and less risk of injury.
Most people experience very little discomfort and describe skin revitalization treatments as feeling like the snapping of a rubber band. Because tattoo removal treatments use more energy, patients may experience more discomfort, but your treatment provider should be able to offer numbing cream or other aids to minimize discomfort.
Procedure time depends on the size of the area to be treated, and 10 minutes is common for average sized tattoo and skin revitalization treatments.
The sun exposes the skin to harmful radiation. To protect itself, the body produces extra melanin, causing the skin to tan. Since PicoSure targets melanin to remove excess pigment, a heavy tan may interfere with treatment. After laser treatments for removal of tattoos and unwanted pigment, the skin is more vulnerable to sunlight so minimizing sun exposure and use of sunscreen of SPF30+ is recommended.
The number of PicoSure treatments for unwanted pigmentation will vary depending on the condition being treated and how each individual responds.
For tattoo removal, the size, location and density of ink play important roles in how quickly clearance can be achieved, but 4-10 treatments* is common for modern tattoos. Your treatment provider will be able to evaluate and provide you with a personalized plan.
The number of treatments for skin revitalization is largely dependent on the clinical condition being addressed but 2-5 treatments are common. Your treatment provider will be able to provide you with a personalized plan.
Tattoo removal and acne scar results are permanent. Skin revitalization treatment results are long lasting, but some pigment conditions can be recurrent. Some patients find that a PicoSure Focus treatment every six months can help prevent accumulation of pigment and slow the appearance of wrinkles.
PicoSure is designed with safety in mind and incidents of scarring are very rare. Tattoo removal treatments require more energy than skin revitalization and some patients may experience hypopigmentation (a lightening in skin color of the treated area) but this is usually temporary and normal skin is typically restored once healing is complete.
Recovery times are dependent on the condition being treated and each patient’s ability to heal. Typical treatment intervals are 2-6 weeks for pigmented lesions and 6-8 weeks for tattoo removal. Treatments for acne scars and wrinkles using the Focus lens array can be performed every 3-4 weeks. Your treatment provider will create a personalized treatment plan for you.
